Clients of General Maritime have continued to dispose of their older tankers this week, with the sale of the double hulled Aframax "GENMAR PROGRESS" (96,765 dwt, built 1991 Sumitomo H.I). The vessel is reported to have gone for a price of $8 million to clients of Eurotankers, which represents a slight premium on the $7.7 million that Dubai-based buyers paid for the sister vessel "GENMAR PRINCESS" (also 1991 built) in January of this year. Demolition prices are currently in excess of $500/ldt for tankers, so the price received is broadly in line with what the owners would have received had they chosen to send the vessel for recycling in the Indian Subcontinent.
