NYSE listed Double Hull Tankers (DHT) have confirmed taking a 2003 built VLCC for 16 to 18 months time charter at US$27,000 per day. DHT have a continuous option during the charter to purchase the vessel at: US$65 million for the first 6 month period, US$66 million for the second 6 months and US$67 million for the third 6 months. While there is no specific mention of the vessels' name, we understand the ship in question is the "VENTURE SPIRIT" (298,287 dwt, built Universal S.B. 2003). May we remind you that in March, DHT also purchased the ex "FRONT EAGLE" (309,064 dwt, built Samsung H.I. 2002), for US$67 million on the basis of a two year time charter back at US$32,300 net per day, and in December they acquired the ex "ASCONA" (299,198 dwt, built Daewoo 1999), from clients of Neda Maritime for US$55 million.
