摘要

Roily Mercado, a farmer in northern Luzon, the Philippines, sits in front of his bamboo hut and -plays with his two daughters of four and six years. His water buffalo lies 10 metres away from them and ruminates. Rolly's wife, with a hibiscus flower inher hair, is in the garden and picks string beans which she will cook for dinner. Many of us living in the big cities of the industrialized world are attracted by such a peaceful, harmonious life. It is admittedly a simple one, but there is joy and happiness.
