Rethinking a way

In the sheep-grazing mountains of New Zealand's South Island, 28 per cent of farms are no longer economically viable, and 44 per cent are only marginally viable, according to a survey by a committee of farmers and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. It's time for a sea-change in the way those islanders farm "the alpine," and they're ready for it.
