NEW GEOGRAPHICAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL DATA FOR SIDEROXYLON THORNEI (SAPOTACEAE)

Recent discoveries of new localities for this rare species justify documentation of its presently known range. The additional specimens show that leaves and fruits can be much larger than previously recorded: Foliar micromorphology as viewed by scanning electron microscopy demonstrates the species is distinctive and probably not derived from 5. lanuginosum and S. reclinatum as formerly thought.
