An Autostereoscopic Display Structure Based on Diffractive Optical Elements and Tunable Refractive Elements

In recent years, autostereoscopic display systems are primarily either obstructive or refractive types. This study proposes an alternative structure using a blazed grating and a layer of liquid crystal with designed geometry. The refractive index of the liquid crystal can be varied electronically and thereby allowing variable optimal viewing distance.
