Systems Biology and Drug Discovery A New Path in Genome Research

The combination of high-throughput experiments with methods of mathematical modelling enables a problem-oriented analysis of data suitable for assisting the drug discovery process. Systems biology develops computer models that reproduce biological processes to predict the effects of disturbances in these processes that manifest themselves as diseases. At the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin researchers have developed an integrated software platform that allows the generation and analysis of such models.
