Explorers Discover 1780 British Warship in Lake Ontario

The HMS Ontario,a British warship built in 1780,was discovered in deep water off the southern shore of Lake Ontario in June.Shipwreck enthusiasts Jim Kennard and Dan Scoville located the ship using side scan sonar and an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV).The Ontario is the oldest confirmed shipwreck and the only fully intact British warship to have ever been found in the Great Lakes.At the bottom since October 31,1780,only a few of the ship's items and six bodies of the 120 people on board had ever been previously recovered.
