Remote Sensing of Sound Speed And Temperature in the Ocean

摘要

For the remote sensing of temperature profiles in the ocean,Brillouin scattering can be exploited as both a sound speed and a temperature tracer.Such a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system is capable of delivering online data from an extended region of the ocean.The acquired sound speed/temperature profiles can give valuable input to climate studies,weather forecasting and sonar analyses.Recent progress promises the realization of practical systems in the near future.
