The rapidly increasing quality demands on metal surfaces require new quality assurance tools. The Parsytec dual sensor addresses high-end demands for rolling processes where surface inspection could not be applied satisfactorily before. The benefits of this new inspection technology represent a quantum leap in inspection accuracy and scalability towards future demands and improved usability for quality personnel. Currently, there are two image capture technologies being used for SIS: video cameras and line scan cameras. Both have "obvious" advantages, Video cameras are very robust and can be used for a wide spectrum of materials and surface appearances, while Line scan cameras have a higher sensitivity with a limited usability under practical production conditions, considering the unavoidable line vibrations and strip variations.
