Sainsbury's bets big on UK coastal fisheries

UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's is throw- ing its backing behind a project led by UK seafood trade association Seafish, aimed at supporting England's coastal fisheries. Sainsbury's says the initiative, Project Inshore, will be the first attempt tomap all of these fisheries together and provide sustainability plans for each of them. "The new project will use assessments based on the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard for sustainable fishing to produce tailored sustainability reports for every fishery around the English coast - around 7,000 boats," Sainsbury's said.
