The German phrase sturm und drang-storm and stress-perfectly captures the mood at the fall meeting of the Bureau of International Recycling (Brussels), held in Munich in late October. The meeting's location placed it squarely in that fall's eurozone storm, when the fate of the euro-and the financial stability of several European Union member countries-hung in the balance. With the U.S. economy far from robust and even China showing signs of weakness, it's not surprising that the meeting's market reports were filled with references to uncertainty, fears, unknowns, and the ominous condition of the global economy.
