Eriez has unveiled the P-REX permanent, rare earth drum magnet to enhance the recovery of "meatballs" and other large, sphere-shaped pieces from scrap metal streams. The P-REX offers an attractive force that surpasses the largest and strongest electromagnetic drums, the company says. For instance, electro drum magnets generate limited magnetic force at their edges, whereas the P-REX's permanent magnetic field extends to the drum edges, delivering wider and more efficient recovery, Eriez says.
