Think Japanese food, and fish will be prevalent in everyone's second contemplation if it isn't in their first. But with its per capita consumption of seafood nosediving, is Japan falling out of love with its most traditional of staples? Seafood is themost in vogue protein on the planet today; a thumb through any consumer food magazine or a flick through the numerous food channels on the many satellite, cable or online networks will only confirm its popularity. And yet it seems the nation that has given the world many of its current fishy favourites - including sushi, sashimi and katsuobushi - is turning away from fish.
