ISRI's board of directors adopted a position statement on electronics recycling and approved new specifications for tire scrap at its July meeting in Washington, B.C. In addition, the board authorized ISRI to join with other groups concerned about the Supreme Court's latest decision expanding eminent domain and asked the government relations committee to develop a position on bottle bills. Following is the complete text of ISRI's new electronics recycling policy statement: Recycling is a rapidly growing segment of the private-sector scrap recycling industry that has been an essential element of both the economic and environmental life of the United States for more than 100 years. The scrap commodity market is governed by the laws of supply and demand whereby artificial interference in the marketplace can cause significant disruptions to the long-term flow of materials. It is in this context that the industry has been working to find a model to successfully recycle the millions of tons of electronics scrap generated annually in this country.
