As owners, developers and players in a volatile global fisheries market several key themes impact on that ability to add value and remain competitive. Te Matau a Maui - the 2nd Annual Maori Fisheries Conference organisedby the Treaty Tribes Coalition and hosted by Ngati Kahungunu in Napier at the beginning of April was the result of demand from iwi, the majority of whom have recently taken ownership of substantial fisheries assets, for a forum to engage in development issues regarding the management of those assets in combination with the interests of industry and government.
