摘要

Demand for wild sockeyes and kings and farmed Atlantics holds strong. Don't be alarmed if you're paying more for wild sock-eyes and kings and farmed Adantics this summer. More fish are hitting the U.S. market than last summer, but demand is outstripping supply. By mid-August, Alaska's 2005 salmon catch had eclipsed the preseason projection of 180.7 million fish, reaching 182.7. The Bristol Bay sockeye harvest yielded 24.2 million fish, just 1.4 million shy of the preseason forecast. But Bristol Bay fishermen received 60 cents for whole sockeye in early August, up from 40 cents a year ago, due to robust demand in the Lower 48.
