Kobe Steel inks roll forming, UHSS deal with Voestalpine

Kobe Steel Ltd., Tokyo, and Austria's Voestalpine Krems GmbH have signed a cooperative agreement covering the application of ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) and roll forming technology in auto parts. Kobe Steel will supply the steel sheet to the venture and Voestalpine Krems will provide the processing know-how. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The two companies said they expect the agreement will allow them to jointly contribute to automotive light weighting in car models beginning with the 2011 model year and beyond.
