Forestry Commission Scotland climate change action plan

The Forestry Commission Scotland has published a draft climate change action plan at the start of a three month consultation process which is of importance to the whole forestry sector in Scotland. The plan, together with the consultation response form, can be found at http://www. forestry.gov.uk/ forestry/infd-7bqlg8 or from the Policy Group at Silvan House. The Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2007) gave significant weight to the role of forestry in helping tackle climate change. It stated: "Forestry can make a very significant contribution to a low-cost global mitigation portfolio that provides synergies with adaptation and sustainable development."
