摘要

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency had planned to take two shots at knocking down long-range dummy missiles in 2008, but faulty soldering inside a sensor module that was to ride on the first interceptor missile has foiled that plan. Cancellation of the July intercept test came as a disappointment to advocates of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system, a conglomeration of radars around the Pacific rim that would find and target warheads fired toward the west coast of the U.S.
