US miners under pressure to follow Q3 benchmark

Atlantic coking coal markets saw pressure to conform with the new Asian third quarter benchmark Wednesday, which hit US low-vol values hardest. The Platts US low-vol hard coking coal assessment, based on good-quality CAPP low-vol with 58% CSR and 1.5% MMR at 19% VM, fell $1/mt to $99/mt FOB US East Coast. The US high-vol A assessment was down 50 cents to $105.50/mt, while Platts assessed US high-vol B, based on 34% VM coal with 25,000 ddpm stable at $98.75/mt FOB USEC.
