Ukrainian domestic scrap falls on excess inventory

Domestic scrap prices in Ukraine have softened Hryvnas 120-150/ mt (14.90-18.60 dollars/mt) in the past week on excessive scrap stocks at mills and low profitability of steelmaking. The decline returned scrap prices to levels reached at the beginning of the year, Platts SBB learned from several market participants. Prices for heavy melting scrap now total Hryvnas 2,560-2,580/mt (317-320 dollars) ex-yard and some sources indicated they could slip further to Hryvnas 2,520/mt during the next week or two on swelling inventories and low steel prices.
