Vale ready to reduce production if necessary: Poppinga

Brazilian mining behemoth Vale is ready to cut iron ore production up to 30 million mt in case of a further deterioration in prices, a company executive said Thursday. The possible cut would be temporary and does not mean closure of mines, reduction of installed capacity or delay on ongoing projects, ferrous and strategy director Peter Poppinga said.
