Venezuela’s sole iron ore miner CVG Ferrominera Orinoco (FMO) could kick off operations of its new iron ore concentration plant — under construction since 2004 and mothballed in early 2014 — a source at the company said Tuesday. The 8 million mt/year plant, located in Ciudad Piar, was slated to begin operation in 2007, but suffered several delays after a strike and lack of funding.
