Spot prices of seaborne iron ore sank to their lowest level since December 2009 Friday as a sharp decline in steel futures muted buying interest and exacerbated pressure on fresh tenders. Platts assessed the 62% Fe IODEX down 2 dollars/dry mt at 111.75 dollars/ dmt CFR North China. Overall, trading activity remained extremely scant on a quiet Friday as spot buyers stayed on the sidelines wondering when the bottom would be reached.
