A major slide in the benchmark coking coal price for the third quarter of 2015 may be a foregone conclusion for market participants. Spot prices for the best coals had fallen to the low $80s/mt FOB Queensland in May, after buyers in Japan and miners from Australia in March agreed the Q2 benchmark at $109.50/mt FOB.
