Turkish pre-holiday scrap buys buoy prices

Turkish imported ferrous scrap prices rose Wednesday as some mills completed final purchases before the upcoming holiday. Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap I/II (80:20) $6/mt higher to $226/mt CFR from Tuesday. Just before the Market On Close process finalized, a premium US merchant was heard to have sold 13,000 mt of HMS I/II (80:20) at $227.50/mt CFR, 13,000 mt of shred at $232.50/mt and 10,000 mt of bonus at $237.50/mt CFR, to an electric arc-furnace based mill.
