China's consumption of scrap declined over the first nine months of this year, the first such fall since 2001, the China Association of Metalscrap Utilization (CAMU) said in a report seen by Platts Steel Business Briefing. According to CAMU statistics, some 60.6 million mt of scrap were consumed by Chinese steelmakers during January-September, down 12.3 million mt or nearly 18% year on year.
