Eurofer lambasts potential carbon allowance set-aside

Eurofer has reinforced its concerns about the disadvantages European steelmakers may face in the international market if the European Commission allows emissions allowances to be withheld. On Wednesday the EC is expected to adopt a proposal giving carte blanche to reduce the amount of CO2 allowances in the market, effectively triggering an artificial increase of their price in the emissions trading system (ETS).
