摘要

The chromium(VI) oxidation of mercury(I) in an aqueous sulphuric acid medium has been studied spectrophotometrically. The reaction is first order in chromium(VI) concentration, whereas less than unit order in muercry(I) and nearly two in hydrogen ion concentrations. The added products, chromium(III) and mercury(II), do not significantly effect the reaction rate. A mechanism involving HCrO_4~- and H[Hg_2(SO_4)HSO_4] as the reactive species of oxidant and reductant respectively is proposed.
