Crack self-healing can be promoted by the combination of calcite produced by microbial mineralisation and cement-based materials. However, microorganisms are expensive, and their environmental adaptability is poor. These issues limit the development of new biological additives. In this paper, the feasibility of cultivating microorganisms in the laboratory and applying them to the self-healing of cement-based materials is studied. Natural microorganisms from the Three Gorges heartland are obtained. After induction in highly alkaline water, alkalophilic Bacillus is cultivated and divided. Buffer containing microorganisms were added to cement-based materials, and significant self-healing phenomena were confirmed after experimental comparisons.
