摘要

The oxidation of amino acids (serine and threonine) by hexacyanoferrate(III), in alkaline medium, was dependent on the first powers of the concentrations of substrate and oxidant, but was independent on the concentration of alkali in the range studied. The reactivities of serine and threonine were rationalised in terms of the inductive effect. The reaction proceeded via a radical intermediate, which was detected by ESR spectroscopy.
