Choti funding impact on women development 'an assessment study'.

This study was conducted to: (i) determine the impact of Choti Funding on its beneficiaries, particularly women; (ii) examine the impact of Choti Funding on economic development; and (iii) identify the sectors receiving Choti Funding that are associated with high economic, educational and health development. Data were gathered from 58 women and community-based organizations receiving Choti Funding in five districts in North-West Frontier Pakistan. It was found that women organizations are more exposed to income generation projects than community-based organizations. Women organizations utilize 92% of the Choti Funding in income generation, which is significantly higher than that of community-based organizations (52%). This indicates that women are more conscious on economic empowerment. It is also interesting to note that although the average beneficiaries of Choti Funding in community-based organizations are higher than in women organizations, more women come forward and contribute in the development of their own villages by preparing and submitting proposal for Choti Funding. It is concluded that infrastructure, education and income generation projects also contribute to health development, particularly for women.
