Synergistic effect of fungicides application on powdery mildew control and yield in pea.

The synergistic effects of 5 sprayable (Archer at 1 g/l, Kumulus [sulfur] DF at 3 g/l, Thiovit [sulfur] 80WP at 2.5 g/l, Score [difenoconazole] 250EC at 1.2 ml/l and Topas [penconazole] 100EC at 0.5 ml/l) and 2 seed treatment fungicides (Dithane M-45 [mancozeb] and Benlate [benomyl], each at 2 g/kg) were studied on powdery mildew (caused by Erysiphe polygoni) and yield of pea under artificial epiphytotic field conditions in Peshawar, Pakistan, during 2002-04. The lowest area under disease progress curve was recorded in treatment Score+Benlate. The highest number of pods was obtained with Score+Dithane M-45. The highest number of grains per pod was achieved in treatment Topas+Benlate. The grain yield was highest in Score+Dithane M-45 (917.2 kg/ha) and Score+Benlate (573.4 kg/ha) during 2002-03 and 2003-04, respectively. The use of Score and Topas in combination with either Benlate or Dithane M-45 is recommended for low attack of powdery mildew and high productivity in pea.
