Issues and options in the production of high value crops in coastal region of Pakistan.

摘要

This study was conducted to: (i) examine the existing agronomic practices and per hectare cost of betel (Piper betle) leaf and musk melon (Cucumis melo) production; and (ii) investigate productivity per unit of betel leaf and musk melon to estimate the returns. Data were gathered from 160 growers in a coastal region of Pakistan, in 2002. It was found that these crops have tremendous potential and have no competition in the region.
