Control of rabbits to protect island birds from cat predation

摘要

Through a mathematical model, it was demonstrated that control of introduced prey (rabbits) facilitates the control of the introduced predator population (cats). Moreover, predator control may fail to protect the indigenous prey (birds) if control of the introduced prey is not undertaken simultaneously. It is concluded that control of both introduced species is the best strategy.
