Washington - Temporary workers are exposed to more hazards than permanent workers and are more likely to be injured on the job, but ensuring their safety can be difficult for OSHA, agency staff recently told members of the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health. During the committee's June 11 meeting in Washington, OSHA administrator David Michaels said staffing agencies and host employers are jointly responsible for ensuring safe working conditions. This can make it difficult for OSHA to oversee staffing agencies unless those agencies have a supervisory role, he noted.
