The herbicide glyphosate became the first billion dollar pesticide and its sales continue to impress. This has been helped in no small part by the introduction of glyphosate resistant crops allowing the over-the-top application of this broad-spectrum, non-selective herbicide to millions of hectares of transgenic glyphosate-resistant broad acre crops. The herbicide was introduced by Monsanto in 1971 as Roundup and 'Roundup Ready' crops were launched in 1996, also by Monsanto. With such a successful history it is very appropriate that a book that reviews all that is known about this herbicide, its uses and ensuing problems associated with the onset of weed resistance following its now very wide usage.
