Implementing the use of safety cutters can drastically reduce the number of injuries sustained from cuts.Ralphs Grocery Co.saw a 30 percent reduction in cuts over the past 12 months,accord- ing to Dave Puglisi,safety manager of the Los Angeles-based supermarket chain.The reduction came after the company issued safety-guarded cutters to employ- ees that featured a guard that conceals the blade.The key to compliance was "making those cutters mandatory,rather than a recommendation," Puglisi said.
