The evolution of total knee prostheses available today has stemmed from design improvements to restore proper knee kinematics and duplicate patient anatomy. Surgeons had previously been required to adjust for the limited size options offered by manufacturers. The universal expansion of standard off-the-shelf prosthetic choices and better instrumentation have allowed for more options to size appropriately.
