Arlington, VA - Secretary of Labor Hilda L Solis is praising the actions of mining officials who averted a possible disaster May 9 after seven miners were trapped underground for 24 hours. The miners were working in Cobra Resources' Mountaineer Alma A mine in Mingo County, WV, when an inundation flooded a swag at the bottom of the mine slope and prevented the miners from exiting.
