NJ drivers subject to fines under amended snow, ice removal law

New Jersey - Drivers in New Jersey soon could face fines if they fail to remove snow and ice from their motor vehicles. Senate Bill 520 was sent to Gov. Jon Corzine (D) on June 25. If approved, the current law would be amended to require all motor vehicle operators - including commercial truck drivers - to make "ail reasonable efforts" to remove ice or snow from a vehicle. Under the amended law, law enforcement officers may stop any vehicle if they believe the accumulated ice or snow may pose a threat to people or property.
