New NEP targets hazardous chemicals

Washington - A new national emphasis program from OSHA aims to prevent toxic fires and explosions by targeting facilities that house large amounts of hazardous chemicals. According to the agency, the PSM-Covered Chemical Facilities NEP will be a one-year pilot program in which OSHA will inspect worksites that have hazardous chemicals in quantities covered by the agency's process safety management standard (29 CFR 1910.119).
