WASHINGTON - A new preliminary report on aviation accident statistics for 2007 shows the number of overall general aviation accidents rose from 2006, while the number of fatalities hit the lowest annual total in more than 40 years. The report, released April 16 by the National Transportation Safety Board, comes amid intense investigation into the Federal Aviation Administration's aircraft inspection oversight.
