Raising your own gilts

MORE COMMERCIAL hog farmers are raising their own gilts, looking for more doors to close against disease and to save money. More of them are looking for outside help to man-age their replacement genetics. Ontario Swine Improvement has seen the demandgrow for services more than just the delivery of semen. OSI is now involved in everything from sourcing gilts for farmers, to doing walk throughs of sow barns and ultrasound probing to help a farmer get the view of an outside pair of eyes, on his sows.
