SOME OF THE largest hog feed companies in Canada are bringing an increased level of farm computer modeling to the producer. Both Agribrands Purina Canada and Maple Leaf Animal Nutrition, through its Shur-Gain company, have launched sophisticated computer programs which allow the entry of complex farm factors like genetics, environment, disease and feed. Out the other end is spit projected economic data, and even grading data, which the companies claim is within a few per cent of what actually happens on the farm.
