Derakhshesh SM, Zadeh Nava HG, Tajik P., Effect of epidural naloxone, gonadotropin releasing hormone and calcium gluconate on progesterone, corpus lutea and estrus in Holstein cows with follicular cysts, Onl J Vet Res., 19(11): 732-737, 2015. Groups of 30 dairy cows each with follicular cysts, were given epidural lumbo-sacral 0.8mg naloxone (NX), 100 mcg gondorein acetate gonadotropin releasing hormone (GRH) and 3ml Calcium gluconate (Ca2+) 20% (340 mg/ml), NX with GRH, and NX with Ca2+. Controls were administered epidural saline. Greater progesterone values (P <0.02) and Corpus lutea (P < 0.006) were palpated in cows given NX, GRH and Ca2+ compared with controls. There was no significant association between treatment groups and cows pregnant after treatment by first insemination or with estrus. In contrast, there was significant correlation (r=0.58) between increased progesterone and number of Corpus lutea.
