Effect of organic manure application in rice

Afield experiment was conduced at Annamalai University Experimental farm, Tamil Nadu state during 1997 and 1998 to evaluate the impact of various organic manure application in rice yield, quality and soil sustainability. Application of 75 kg N ha~(-1)as Farm yard manure (FYM) and 25 kg ha~(-1) as Neem cake was found beneficial and resulted in highest rice grain yield (5.02 t ha~(-1)) and milling recovery (74.7 %). Chemical fertilizer application over two seasons reduced the post harvest soil nutrient status as compared to organic manure application.
