Leaf colour chart (LCC) based nitrogen management in direct (drum) seeded wet land rice

Field experiments to study the usefulness of the leaf colour chart for phasing the fertiliser nitrogen application to direct (drum) seeded rice varieties under wet land conditions were conducted during wet (June-Sept.) seasons of 2000 and 2001. Threecritical levels of LCC viz., LCC 3, 4 and 5 in comparison with the blanket recommendation were tried. The results indicated that the adoption of LCC critical value 4 was the optimum and the best method ofN management strategy for getting higher yield.
