Nitrogen supplemented seedling symptom test- a new method for provingseed transmission ofXanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae

A new method called "nitrogen supplemented seedling symptom test" has been devised to prove the seed transmission of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. The nitrogen solution containing 250 mug N ml~(-1) was used as a supplement to irrigation water. The method is much more rapid and efficient than the earlier methods because the typical blight symptoms appear after 7 days and wilting of the plants occurs after 10 days of sowing.
